A message from your Captains

Welcome Back!

Dear Members

It has been a couple of weeks since both myself and Ladies Captain Sharon have emailed you.

We, like yourselves, have missed not only our drive ins but also the opportunity to play golf since the lockdown was imposed on March 23rd. Thankfully today the course has reopened for us all.

Our fantastic club and the way we will play golf, will be different to before and as we know, we have been inundated with information to help us return to playing safe golf. We do need to abide by these guidelines, but we also still want our fabulous pastime to be as fun and enjoyable as it has been previously. By following the rules now, the restrictions will be lifted further in few weeks hopefully to allow the return of competitive golf and fourballs.

Both Sharon and I want to take this opportunity to send our own personal thanks to the following people:
Jim Birkett, our head greenkeeper, Tom Ball his able deputy and more recently Billy Coy have maintained the course superbly during lockdown and you can see the work that these guys have put in to keep the course in the best possible condition.
Pam in the office has also been working hard to make sure all of the admin is up to date and supported the board and general manager as needed.
The Board who only come together as a group at the end of last year, whilst still finding their feet, have met regularly by modern means - zoom meetings and constant WhatsApp discussions. We can only say that after having sat in on all of these meetings, we are proud of the way they have supported the club through these unknown times, sometimes whilst buffering illness themselves.

Finally Andrew Watson, our General Manager, I know he is married to the Ladies Captain and she may be biased, so I would like to say a few words personally. He has worked tirelessly in the office for the last 7 weeks, often until late, often on his own, attending board meetings until late into the evening and working with many of the agencies linked to golf to enable them to support us and clubs better throughout this unknown period.

We are indebted to these people for keeping our club and course in safe hands in these tumultuous times and myself as Captain and Sharon as Ladies Captain want to say Thank you on behalf of you all.

Welcome Back to Golf, play safe, be safe and enjoy our fantastic sport.

Best regards
Andy and Sharon
